General Secretary

Nshimyimana Emmanuel was born and survived the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in the Western Province, Karongi District.
He served as the Secretary-General of the GAERG Board of Directors from 2018 to 2022. Within the same organization, he served as Commissioner for Memory and Documentation from 2012 to 2014.
He served as AERG (Association des Étudiants et Élèves Rescapés du Genocide) Coordinator at the Kigali Institute of Education from 2007 to 2008 before joining AEGIS Students – Youth Wing of AEGIS Trust from 2008 to 2010 as National Coordinator.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Genocide Studies and Prevention at the University of Rwanda, he also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Education from the Kigali Institute of Education, he also attended and organized different National and International conference on genocide and genocide commemoration.
He is currently working as a Division Manager and Chief Budget Manager in the Office of the Government Spokesperson (OGS)
Before joining the OGS he worked as a consultant in peace education and peace-building domain. With his expertise in peace and values education, He contributed in the elaboration of the peace and values model lesson plans book and peace and values teacher guide book.
He worked as Peace Education Facilitator at AEGIS Trust from 2013 to 2017. He also worked at National Commission for the Fight Against Genocide –CNLG, as a District Coordinator in Kamonyi and Muhanga District from 2011 to 2012 and as Head of Murambi Genocide Memorial from 2010 to 2011. He also worked at Service National des Juridictions Gacaca – SNJG as District Coordinator in Nyabihu District in 2010.
He spends much time reading books related on Genocide and he dedicates his much time to fight genocide denials.
He is married, with two daughters and a son.
